About Aamkunj Beach

Aamkunj Beach is one of the most accessible beaches in Rangat and a popular stop for travellers exploring Middle Andaman by road. Known for its peaceful atmosphere, eco-friendly beach park, rocky shoreline, and long coastal stretch, the beach offers a relaxed experience away from commercial tourist crowds.

Unlike the white sandy beaches of South Andaman, Aamkunj Beach has a unique coastal landscape filled with grey pebbles, volcanic rocks, driftwood, and strong sea waves hitting the shoreline. The beach was later developed into an eco-friendly recreational area using recycled wooden logs and natural materials collected after the 2004 tsunami, giving the place a very raw and natural character.

The beach also has shaded resting huts, wooden seating areas, swings, changing rooms, and open picnic spaces facing the sea, making it a popular stop among both locals and travellers passing through Rangat.

Swimming is technically possible in calmer sections of the beach, but it is generally not recommended because of sharp underwater rocks, unpredictable currents, and occasional saltwater crocodile movement reported around some coastal regions of Middle Andaman. Visitors planning to enter the water should check conditions locally before doing so.
